FATHER: You know I am already taking medication for that!

TI: That’s right, Dad, but I know that you may not want to be a drug addict forever, and I want to know all the alternative remedies on the market. You do not have to read it, I thought I might like an FYI.

“Is this route a little more crafty? Perhaps, but if it saves the life of his father and lowers cholesterol, the change from 2% to 1% of the milk will be worthwhile.

Published last October in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association suggests that patients with high cholesterol who are taking drugs to high doses of statins may reduce the damage to their hearts by supplementing their diets with foods rich in plant sterols.

The high cholesterol – cholesterol causes cardiovascular disease. Heart disease causes 50 percent of deaths in Europe and costs the EU 202 billion U.S. dollars each year.

The new research confirms previous studies stating that patients with high cholesterol can reduce your cholesterol levels in a 8 to 17 percent by the consumption of 1.5 to 3 grams of plant sterols or stanols every day, which translates into a reduced risk of heart disease.

Researchers at the University Medical Center Utrecht and the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands, studied 20 hypercholesterolemic patients who took the maximum daily dose of statin drugs – atorvastatin or simvastatin 80 mg.

The study divided the participants into two groups: one received 3 grams of plant stanol enriched margarine per day (Johnson & Johnson brand Benecol) for six weeks, and the second group received stanol-free margarine every day for six weeks. Both margarines contained 62 percent fat.

At the end of the trial, the group receiving stanol enriched margarine had a 9.9 percent reduction in plasma cholesterol and a 15.6 percent reduction in LDL cholesterol. Their levels of apolipoprotein B (ApoB) – responsible for transporting cholesterol to the tissues – has dropped by 10.8 percent.

By contrast, the control group experienced only a 7.7 percent reduction in the levels of LDL cholesterol. Total cholesterol remained unchanged, and ApoB levels fell by 6.8 percent.

“Intensive intervention diet with the addition of plant stanols results in clinically relevant reduction of low density lipoprotein (LDL) in patients treated with statins optimally, compared to similar patients receiving only standard care statins, “the researchers wrote.

Mike Adams, author of Grocery Warning, “says this research should indicate to patients that plant stanols and sterols may actually replace statin drugs.

“Statin drugs are dangerous chemicals that can cause very harmful – even deadly – side effects,” said Adams. “The replacement of plant medicines in the care of a naturopathic doctor can greatly improve the health of patients, greatly reducing the cost of their treatment.”

Some of these drugs to reduce cholesterol has negative side effects such as memory loss, muscle fatigue, deficiency of CoQ10, vitamin D deficiency, depletion of sex hormones and adrenal exhaustion.

This research confirms what naturalists have been saying to the healthcare industry for a decade . It is not eating fat that raises cholesterol. Eating cholesterol animal fat increases. In fact, the change from animal fat to vegetable fat can actually reduce cholesterol.

vegetable fats from avocados, almonds, walnuts, peanuts, chia seeds, olive oil, coconut oil, macadamia nut oil, and so on. If it is from the plant world, fat is good for you in moderation. The trick is to eat raw fat, cooked fats.

One serving of raw almonds a day may reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke by 53 percent, according to research cited by Mike Adams. And raw nuts and seeds offer a lot of calcium, to replace dairy products. Chia seeds and almonds are good sources of calcium.

The cholesterol itself is a fatty substance that occurs naturally in the blood and all cells of the body with . They assist the body to produce cell membranes, some hormones create and even to go about their normal daily activities properly. Unfortunately, too much of a good thing is bad in this case. When cholesterol levels are too high, the chances of heart disease, heart attacks and stroke are much higher.

The doctors can tell whether a person needs cholesterol levels by performing a simple blood test. This test reveals the levels of several types of cholesterol found in the body. While these changes alone can not completely guarantee avoiding problems, can help.

There are several types of cholesterol found in the body. LDL or low density lipoprotein, also known as bad cholesterol, is the type of care. When the levels of this form of cholesterol are too high, it is likely that this form of fat is or will soon begin to stick to artery walls. When combined with the plate, this type of cholesterol can become a murderer by leading to hardening of the arteries, which of course leads to heart attack and stroke.

lipoprotein HDL or high density cholesterol is known as “good . This type of cholesterol actually protects the body against heart attacks and strokes. It is believed that HDL cholesterol carries the bad LDL cholesterol to the liver where they can succeed purged from the body. This number is only a problem when it is too low.

Another factor that comes into total cholesterol counts is the level of triglycerides. This form of fat produced in the body itself. When this is too high, the risk of heart disease and stroke is generally high, too.

The fight to lower cholesterol by changing dietary habits, increasing exercise and even take some medications that can help control the body’s own production fat may help fight heart disease and stroke. While cholesterol levels alone are not the only factor that enters into the formation of heart disease, clogging the arteries and other undesirable conditions, the elimination of this risk can greatly improve the prospect of a person’s health in general.

When the lower cholesterol levels are achieved and maintained throughout the body tends to benefit. Since diet and exercise is likely to come into play, the branch of this measure can be fantastic not only for the results of cholesterol tests, but also overall health.
