The good doctor’s advice to control cholesterol – naturally
Read the health articles of The Good Doctor – Dr. W. Gifford-Jones. His articles have always provided the most down to earth type of bone marrow, the wisdom of information about health problems and concerns. As a doctor, his philosophy is to provide excellent care and counseling, including the courage to persuade patients to be proactive about your own health – which means not only eating well and exercising, but the natural choice and secure resources (instead of drugs) for medical problems.
A good example of his philosophy is his most recent publication that I found last week – his article on foods that can control cholesterol naturally. These are some of the recommended foods and supplements that work.
Taking vitamin C at breakfast is one of the best ways to start a “lower your cholesterol” days. Increases the removal of cholesterol from the blood in the form of bile acids, but also triggers the bowel movement is necessary to remove these bile acids. The recommended dose is 2,000 milligrams, depending on your tolerance of ascorbic acid, and over this dose has been promoted not only by the good doctor, but the Nobel Prize, Dr. Linus Pauling, too.
the oat bran fruits such as oranges, apples, plums, and pears were also smart breakfast food. Oat bran is a soluble fiber that helps with the elimination of bile acids, thereby reducing the body’s absorption of cholesterol in the intestines.
Even the wine is good for your body, a glass of wine can increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL ) or what is commonly known as good cholesterol while eliminating excess cholesterol from the blood. In addition, red wine makes all kinds of benefits for the heart, including the formation of a chemical that reduces the risk of angina pectoris. Furthermore, red wine reduces the risk of blood clots. I think you can not get better advice than “medical treatment”! Dr. Gifford-Jones, however, warns against indulgence. The key to health is moderate consumption and I bet this caution applies even oat bran and apples.
Soy Protein, of course, increases HDL levels, a situation demonstrated in a study in which patients were given 40 grams of soy protein in the form of cookies. You know what? After 12 weeks, these patients showed a five percent increase in good cholesterol HDL. And we can get soy protein in all its forms – tofu, smoothies, burgers or high energy drinks.
For those of us who enjoy nuts, no doubt will delight in the doctor’s recommendation of almonds. A study in Toronto shows that 2 handfuls of almonds daily for a period of three months reduced bad cholesterol (LDL) by 9.4 percent, so these two handfuls of almonds reduced risk of cardiovascular events by 20 percent.
Even a mere teaspoon of cinnamon in coffee or tea can lower bad cholesterol by 20 percent as black tea, garlic oil and psyllium in a less dramatic.
The most comforting to read the good doctor is that there is no drama or urgency in its appeal. Your voice is that of common sense: eating well. Choose healthy foods rich in fiber and nutrients, be sure to get your vitamin C, soy protein and oat bran, enjoy your meal with a glass of red wine. Last but not least, exercise regularly. You do not have to run a marathon or aim for the 24-pack abs. But you can work your body every day because exercise is known to increase HDL.
Faced with far too many TV ads in the mouths of all medicines to control cholesterol, reading the good doctor is like a breath of fresh air!

Cholesterol | Comments (0)The types of cholesterol found in eggs
Your average chicken egg contains 6 grams of protein (including all essential amino acids) making it an invaluable resource for bodybuilders. Eggs are also rich in vitamins A, E and K as well as a range of B vitamins including B-12, riboflavin and folic acid. Egg yolks are also one of the few foods that naturally contain vitamin D. So far fat, egg whites contain no fat whatsoever. The yolk, however, contains about 5 grams of fat. However, less than a third of this is saturated fat. Of course, eggs also contain cholesterol and it is this factor that has led many people to flee. Recent scientific studies, however, suggests that this is not guaranteed.
There are two types of cholesterol, dietary cholesterol found in foods and serum cholesterol contained in our blood. Instead of being converted from food cholesterol, serum cholesterol is predominantly produced by the body. This type of cholesterol can be divided into HDL (high density lipoprotein) and LDL (low density lipoprotein). HDL is good because it is easy to transport to the liver for elimination from the bloodstream. LDL, however, is bad because it has a tendency to stick to artery walls. Clearly, since the level of HDL in your body, the better. Now, the prevailing wisdom used to be that the egg yolks increase the amount of LDL in the bloodstream.
That was until recent studies such as that conducted at the University of Arizona, who examined 224 nutritional studies performed during the quarter century earlier, which had investigated the relationship between diet and cholesterol levels in the blood. These studies showed that the factors that contribute to increased levels of cholesterol in the blood were smoking, lack of exercise, genetics, obesity and consumption of saturated fats. Dietary cholesterol was not included as a factor. Other studies have shown that dietary cholesterol does not contribute to serum cholesterol levels. It’s the saturated fat is the culprit. And remember that the egg contains only 1.6 grams of saturated fat.
When it comes to choosing the eggs, reach for those that come from free range chickens. This is not just moving a ethically sound, it makes sense bodybuilding good. Chickens that eat grass are likely to have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids (up to 20 times higher than barn hens).
When is the best way to eat eggs, it is worth to cook some way to avoid the risk of salmonella poisoning. It can climb, boil, microwave, frying, baking or steaming. Their eggs are stored in their cartons in place in the refrigerator, as it is easy for them to absorb the odors of other foods in your refrigerator. Do not worry about the stains of blood in the yolk. These are actually an indication that the egg is fresh (which is the result of a broken vein during egg formation). Finally here’s a valuable tip to determine if an egg is raw or cooked; Spin the egg on the table. If it spins, the egg is hard, if falters, then it is raw.

Cholesterol | Comments (1)The 4 best ways to lower cholesterol
Ways to reduce cholesterol are all-natural and does not include a strict regimen of exercise – while increasing your daily activity never hurts. If you have a “medicine more problems with cholesterol time you are prescribed cholesterol -” Statin drugs, but it really is a safer, more effective alternative and less expensive.
To be quite accurate – you will not, simply reduce your cholesterol levels. What we want is a proper balance of cholesterol. There are different types of cholesterol that our bodies need to live.
Sometimes we have too much LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and sometimes we have enough HDL (good cholesterol) and sometimes is a bad combination. Medicine developed – ‘statins’ – the most frequently prescribed drugs for cholesterol problems, which lower cholesterol – but too often lower in the good and bad.
You want your cholesterol medicine to balance the good cholesterol, you bad cholesterol and triglycerides. This is the optimum range you want to be looking for. Statins will not give you that, but there nutrients.
The 4 best ways to lower cholesterol is by eating: Lecithin oil pumpkin seed oil phytosterols D-limonene, rather than cholesterol medicine – drugs .
Lecithin oil – has been around since 1929 – has been used as an emulsifying agent, allowing fats and other lipids that are dispersed in water. During the mid-1960s – the Japanese discovered the ability to reduce cholesterol.
Pumpkin Seed Oil – Contains Zinc, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and both Omega 3 and Omega 6 – known as essential fatty acids has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol or low density lipoprotein.
D-limonene – known for its fragrance to lemons. It also works very efficiently to reduce cholesterol.
Phytosterols – found in many fruits and vegetables. These little gems of reducing LDL cholesterol – low density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) and do not interfere with high-density lipoprotein HDL (good cholesterol)
A combination of these natural ingredients will provide an excellent way to reduce cholesterol and gives the right balance cholesterol without having to take cholesterol medicine expensive and sometimes dangerous.
Remember statins – the main cholesterol-lowering drugs – have side effects such as pain caused moderate to severe muscle. They also reduce coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) – in some cases up to 50% – CoQ10 is an enzyme essential for proper muscle function! And your heart is the most important muscle!
The natural method gives you a bonus and a way to reduce cholesterol. This general approach also ensures that you have the correct levels of triglycerides (which in some people – including me – is the much bigger problem.) Something that most cholesterol medicine does not.

Cholesterol | Comments (0)Tired of taking drugs for high cholesterol?
High cholesterol reduced their cholesterol level, but they have some terrible side effects. Known as statins, these drugs work by inhibiting the production of cholesterol in the liver.
The liver produces some types of cholesterol – the two main – low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) carry out the vital functions in the body and are so essential to life as air.
LDL has been labeled “bad” cholesterol, while HDL is called “good cholesterol.” What is actually a misnomer. Good or bad does not exist. But it is possible to have a cholesterol problem, which may be too LDL, HDL little or even a combination of both issues. An excess of LDL (bad) and not enough HDL (good).
It is clear that the balance of cholesterol to appropriate levels, rather than an overall reduction should be the goal.
Some statins work quickly and aggressively to reduce total cholesterol – both types – LDL and HDL. Some say that to balance your cholesterol levels. However, they miss help achieve a proper balance of triglyceride levels – that a large number of people is more important.
You can balance your cholesterol and triglyceride using nutrients. The right nutrients can do the job. I draw your attention – Under no circumstances should you leave your high cholesterol medication without telling your doctor. Statins have saved many lives over the years and you should not stop taking them without medical supervision. Especially if you are at risk of heart attack or stroke!
Natural rebalancing of cholesterol in the works, but will take longer and the results are less immediately after taking medicine for high cholesterol. The advantage is twofold – cost savings, and avoiding the unpleasant side effects associated with statin drugs.
The side effects of taking medications include high cholesterol – a loss of CoQ10 (coenzyme Q10) – an enzyme found in each living cell and essential for proper cell function – especially muscle tissue. The number one complaint of patients is debilitating muscle pain. Remember that your heart is the most important muscle. There are other side effects too.
You can ween off of statins, by using an all-natural supplement containing proven nutrients to balance cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Of course you need to educate about what these nutrients are striking.

High Cholesterol | Comments (0)As the 3 steps to achieve proper levels of cholesterol
Cholesterol is a fat produced by the liver. Maintaining adequate levels of cholesterol is essential for good health. There are 3 simple steps that will help keep cholesterol in balance, which will significantly increase its life.
Step 1) Know what your cholesterol levels must be correct and that there are different types of cholesterol – LDL and HDL
Test Home cholesterol – if you have no risk factors – men 40 years of age for women – 50 years.
If you have any risk factors, ask your doctor about your cholesterol level should be correct and when to start be tested. Evidence that cholesterol will help you understand the steps necessary to maintain the correct levels of cholesterol.
Step 2) Understand the difference between foods that have cholesterol – (eggs and meat and dairy products) and often you can eat with little or no increase in their cholesterol levels.
And the foods that raise cholesterol – (hydrogenated vegetable oils, palm and coconut). These types of fats found in fast food and prepackaged snack foods. Learn as saturated fats – they raise low-density lipoprotein (LDL)
LDL – low density lipoprotein means and HDL high-density lipoprotein. Both are necessary for life. LDL delivers cholesterol to HDL blood and removes it. An excess of LDL or ‘bad cholesterol’ or too little HDL or “good cholesterol” – or a combination of both can lead to serious health problems such as heart attack and stroke.
Step 3) What can be done to reduce their cholesterol itself:
If you smoke – quit! – That will not only help balance cholesterol but also lower blood pressure.
Eat more foods containing omega-3 fatty acids – fish like, chicken (without skin), lean meats, vegetables, fruits and dairy products low in fat. If you really want to make sure – Increasing omega-3 fatty acids – fish oil capsules to your daily routine.
Get some exercise, you do not have to join a gym or buy expensive exercise machine – that the most likely, never use. Just go for a walk!
Start with a walk of 30 minutes each morning and increase to 60 minutes as soon as possible. Walking is great exercise! Make every day – it works!
If all you do is to change:
the addition of a foot
each lunch salad
sandwiches around
in a matter of weeks you should see the correct levels of cholesterol in your test. If not – because of heredity or other factors (Remember that most of the cholesterol in your body is produced by your body) and which necessitated a bit of help.
This will leave you with a wide selection: or drugs, or supplements. Drugs work, but come with a high cost of 1) the expenditure and 2) side effects.
busting cholesterol supplements work often more effective than drugs and without side effects.
Investigate a little and soon realize the value of supplements when it comes to balance cholesterol.
But there is no need to be a commitment on their part to improve their health. Applying these steps, add a “anti cholesterol” supplement to your diet and see how to correct cholesterol levels become the norm for you.

Cholesterol | Comments (0)How to have healthy cholesterol levels and normal?
Have been written in recent years about the levels of cholesterol in the blood. Not all that long ago, it was thought that eating foods rich in cholesterol caused that there are high levels of cholesterol in the blood, which in turn could lead to heart disease, attacks that are the heart and other problems related to heart. And because of these beliefs and fears, people are encouraged to eat foods low in fat super.
The problem with that philosophy and education is that it was a bit too generic and broad. In fact, there are types of fats that are good for you. In fact, these so-called “good fats” are essential for adequate nutrition and health. There are also “bad fat”, however, may be a contributing factor to health and heart-related problems.
The levels of blood cholesterol are now a similar distinction. In the past it was believed that you need to have total cholesterol levels below a certain number – like 200 mg – is now becoming clear through scientific studies and research that is not always a good measuring stick. However, there are “good” and “bad” cholesterol. And those numbers are what is important, along with the relationship to one another.
The LDL cholesterol is considered the “bad” and that means low-density lipoprotein. Without going into all of the medical and scientific terminology, let’s suffice to say that LDL cholesterol can have harmful reactions in the human body. On the contrary, there are HDL, high density lipoprotein, creating beneficial reactions in the human body.
If you have trouble remembering what they are supposed to and that it is better to think of LDL cholesterol as the one you want to keep floor – use the L at the beginning as a reminder of activation – and HDL is the one you want to maintain high (H = High). The relationship between cholesterol and HDL cholesterol levels is also important.
Now the evidence unfortunately is still a bit vague. In some cases, medical professionals still do a cholesterol test in general that gives the global level. It is increasingly common, though, at least to estimate the ratio of LDL to HDL, or total cholesterol to HDL levels, but these two are estimates rather than actual measurements.
Some say that LDL levels should fall at or below 100 mg, while the new recommendations are asking less than 70mg. When the total to HDL cholesterol is measured, it is said a ratio of 5:1 or less is better.
Now you can get cholesterol from food. The primary sources of cholesterol are animal products like eggs, peanuts, flax seeds, and beef. Some cholesterol is found in plants as well, but is usually a much smaller amount. Most people assume – and even books teach – that there is no cholesterol in plants at all. This is a misunderstanding however, because the U.S. FDA does not require it be on food labels if less than 2 mg per serving.
Note, however, that eating foods containing cholesterol does not automatically has cholesterol-related health problems. Some of these problems can be caused by – or at least contributed to – by the generally poor eating habits, poor exercise and genetics.
The cholesterol can be hereditary. Like many health problems today, has found that some genetic backgrounds have a much higher risk for certain health problems than others.

It is a sterol, a combination of alcohol and steroid and is also called atherosclerotic plaque. The body needs cholesterol to build and maintain cell membranes, help with the production of bile and helps the metabolism of fat soluble vitamins.
Over time, cholesterol builds up in the walls of the arteries and this condition is known as atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis was thought to be a disease of the elderly until the 1950s when American pathologists were sent to Korea by the Pentagon to study the bodies of soldiers who died during the conflict. They autopsy around 2000 soldiers and found that approximately 75% were of wax, yellow deposits on the walls of your arteries, a shocking statistic considering the average age of soldiers was 21. Their findings shocked the scientific community, as highlighted the emergence of heart disease in the very young.
LDL and HDL cholesterol

Possible how between birth control pills and high cholesterol (LDL) is connected. But this does not mean that you have a problem of cholesterol can use of birth control. You must know to select as the correct method.
Pills of estrogen and progestin combination more contraceptive pills contain mentioned due to this combination. Estrogen in the pill helps really “good increase”(high density (HDL) density lipoprotein) cholesterol and decreased.”bad cholesterol (low density (LDL) density lipoprotein)
What perfect sounds right? But there is a disadvantage: the pill progesterone does the opposite. They may raise levels of LDL cholesterol and lower HDL levels. After first has HDL bass and LDL-signup and a progestin pill have high birth control, shows an increase in the “bad”Cholesterin could.
