Read the health articles of The Good Doctor – Dr. W. Gifford-Jones. His articles have always provided the most down to earth type of bone marrow, the wisdom of information about health problems and concerns. As a doctor, his philosophy is to provide excellent care and counseling, including the courage to persuade patients to be proactive about your own health – which means not only eating well and exercising, but the natural choice and secure resources (instead of drugs) for medical problems.

A good example of his philosophy is his most recent publication that I found last week – his article on foods that can control cholesterol naturally. These are some of the recommended foods and supplements that work.

Taking vitamin C at breakfast is one of the best ways to start a “lower your cholesterol” days. Increases the removal of cholesterol from the blood in the form of bile acids, but also triggers the bowel movement is necessary to remove these bile acids. The recommended dose is 2,000 milligrams, depending on your tolerance of ascorbic acid, and over this dose has been promoted not only by the good doctor, but the Nobel Prize, Dr. Linus Pauling, too.

the oat bran fruits such as oranges, apples, plums, and pears were also smart breakfast food. Oat bran is a soluble fiber that helps with the elimination of bile acids, thereby reducing the body’s absorption of cholesterol in the intestines.

Even the wine is good for your body, a glass of wine can increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL ) or what is commonly known as good cholesterol while eliminating excess cholesterol from the blood. In addition, red wine makes all kinds of benefits for the heart, including the formation of a chemical that reduces the risk of angina pectoris. Furthermore, red wine reduces the risk of blood clots. I think you can not get better advice than “medical treatment”! Dr. Gifford-Jones, however, warns against indulgence. The key to health is moderate consumption and I bet this caution applies even oat bran and apples.

Soy Protein, of course, increases HDL levels, a situation demonstrated in a study in which patients were given 40 grams of soy protein in the form of cookies. You know what? After 12 weeks, these patients showed a five percent increase in good cholesterol HDL. And we can get soy protein in all its forms – tofu, smoothies, burgers or high energy drinks.

For those of us who enjoy nuts, no doubt will delight in the doctor’s recommendation of almonds. A study in Toronto shows that 2 handfuls of almonds daily for a period of three months reduced bad cholesterol (LDL) by 9.4 percent, so these two handfuls of almonds reduced risk of cardiovascular events by 20 percent.

Even a mere teaspoon of cinnamon in coffee or tea can lower bad cholesterol by 20 percent as black tea, garlic oil and psyllium in a less dramatic.

The most comforting to read the good doctor is that there is no drama or urgency in its appeal. Your voice is that of common sense: eating well. Choose healthy foods rich in fiber and nutrients, be sure to get your vitamin C, soy protein and oat bran, enjoy your meal with a glass of red wine. Last but not least, exercise regularly. You do not have to run a marathon or aim for the 24-pack abs. But you can work your body every day because exercise is known to increase HDL.

Faced with far too many TV ads in the mouths of all medicines to control cholesterol, reading the good doctor is like a breath of fresh air!

To take control of your cholesterol level, you first have to understand what is and how it works to benefit your

body. It is important to understand that there are two kinds of cholesterol good cholesterol and bad cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a lipid found in cell membranes of all body tissues and is distributed through your body through the blood. It is most abundant in tissues such as liver, spinal cord and brain. It plays an important role in many biochemical processes, but is best known for its association with cardiovascular disease.

Cholesterol is found in animal fats: virtually all food containing animal fats contains cholesterol. Foods that contain no animal fats contain no cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a waxy substance, similar to fat that occurs naturally in all parts of the body. It is in the blood flow of people from all walks of life. The blood cholesterol is the most important for all doctors and the monitor. You need cholesterol in your body, is an important factor in the formation of cell membranes, hormones and precursor that the body synthesizes vitamin D. Cholesterol Vista is not a death sentence, is a molecule that is needed to build large organs in your body. This is what is considered good cholesterol.

Bad cholesterol can cause the development of atherosclerosis, fatty deposits that form inside blood vessels and may predispose men and women to heart attacks. Cholesterol is made of fat and reducing the proportion of fat in the diet will probably help. Cholesterol is the Dr. shocks and Mr. Hyde. It has its good points and bad points. Cholesterol levels naturally rise as men and older women. Doctor s tend to more closely monitor the elderly for Cholesterol. These levels are determined by chemical analysis of a blood sample taken from a finger prick or vein in the arm.

The people of specific ethnicities are predisposed to high cholesterol, and eating a well balanced diet may not be enough to lower your cholesterol. Medication is available on the market today that can significantly lower your cholesterol level, however, these drugs are available only by prescription. It is important that your cholesterol levels are under control to avoid potentially fatal diseases.

Your average chicken egg contains 6 grams of protein (including all essential amino acids) making it an invaluable resource for bodybuilders. Eggs are also rich in vitamins A, E and K as well as a range of B vitamins including B-12, riboflavin and folic acid. Egg yolks are also one of the few foods that naturally contain vitamin D. So far fat, egg whites contain no fat whatsoever. The yolk, however, contains about 5 grams of fat. However, less than a third of this is saturated fat. Of course, eggs also contain cholesterol and it is this factor that has led many people to flee. Recent scientific studies, however, suggests that this is not guaranteed.

There are two types of cholesterol, dietary cholesterol found in foods and serum cholesterol contained in our blood. Instead of being converted from food cholesterol, serum cholesterol is predominantly produced by the body. This type of cholesterol can be divided into HDL (high density lipoprotein) and LDL (low density lipoprotein). HDL is good because it is easy to transport to the liver for elimination from the bloodstream. LDL, however, is bad because it has a tendency to stick to artery walls. Clearly, since the level of HDL in your body, the better. Now, the prevailing wisdom used to be that the egg yolks increase the amount of LDL in the bloodstream.

That was until recent studies such as that conducted at the University of Arizona, who examined 224 nutritional studies performed during the quarter century earlier, which had investigated the relationship between diet and cholesterol levels in the blood. These studies showed that the factors that contribute to increased levels of cholesterol in the blood were smoking, lack of exercise, genetics, obesity and consumption of saturated fats. Dietary cholesterol was not included as a factor. Other studies have shown that dietary cholesterol does not contribute to serum cholesterol levels. It’s the saturated fat is the culprit. And remember that the egg contains only 1.6 grams of saturated fat.

When it comes to choosing the eggs, reach for those that come from free range chickens. This is not just moving a ethically sound, it makes sense bodybuilding good. Chickens that eat grass are likely to have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids (up to 20 times higher than barn hens).

When is the best way to eat eggs, it is worth to cook some way to avoid the risk of salmonella poisoning. It can climb, boil, microwave, frying, baking or steaming. Their eggs are stored in their cartons in place in the refrigerator, as it is easy for them to absorb the odors of other foods in your refrigerator. Do not worry about the stains of blood in the yolk. These are actually an indication that the egg is fresh (which is the result of a broken vein during egg formation). Finally here’s a valuable tip to determine if an egg is raw or cooked; Spin the egg on the table. If it spins, the egg is hard, if falters, then it is raw.

For some, even maintaining cholesterol at the appropriate levels and being fit and thin does not continue to impede the development of high levels bad cholesterol. Because cardiac risk factors, in addition to diet, some people need a very aggressive approach which includes cholesterol lowing medication.

Lifestyle issues and high cholesterol:

When opting for the convenience of eating over nutrition, we are preparing to problems. Eating fast foods and the results of convenience foods in eating too much fat and salt, which can raise our levels of bad cholesterol. In addition, a sedentary lifestyle also contribute to unhealthy cholesterol levels. To see a graphical representation of this, consider renting the documentary film Supersize Me. This documentary details the attempts of a man to live on fast food and little exercise alone. The results of your cholesterol and body health in just 30 days are truly frightening.

A visit to a nutritionist or dietitian can help us all better understand eating for the right reasons and for optimal health. It’s never too late to start on this path.

The regular exercise actually reduce cholesterol and maintain your body strength to function better. Just 20 minutes of aerobic exercise such as walking, every day to lower cholesterol. Exercise need not be a big time or money commitment. Simple activities that get you moving and you enjoy enough to repeat appropriate.

Diet:

An important consideration in the diet is choosing lower fat.

Buy cooking oils that are unsaturated. Use low fat spray to replace heavy oils whenever possible. Reduce the total use of oils even further by using cooking techniques require little or no oil.

Age and Gender:

Cholesterol levels increase with age. Women generally have a lower level than men age 50 to 55. Once a woman starts menopause, the cholesterol level starts to increase.

While there is much you can do about your age, you can ensure that age is not a threat to heart health by sticking to healthy lifestyle and diet and keep your cholesterol levels checked.

Heritage:

Genetics play a key role in the health of a person and this includes the amount of cholesterol you might have.

Find out if your family battles high levels cholesterol and then bring this to the attention of your doctor immediately. If you have a family history of heart disease and high cholesterol levels, work harder and start earlier in adopting a healthy lifestyle and eating plan.

The cholesterol word, what is your immediate reaction, or what comes first in your mind? Many people worry when they hear the word of cholesterol. They see it as something that is always bad for health. It is always associated with heart problems like hypertension and heart attacks. But what really is the cholesterol that makes our body and health.

Defined Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a type of fat or lipids in the blood and almost all parts of the body. It is a soft, waxy substance in cells of the body. Cholesterol is very useful because it is a component in the formation of cell membranes, some hormones. It is also necessary for other bodily functions. Many of these substance is produced naturally within our bodies and some are from the food we eat.

Cholesterol is not really a hazardous substance, but in reality is one substance that our body needs to stay healthy. However, it must be understood that there are two kinds of which, good and bad cholesterol.

The good and the bad

Since cholesterol is a type of fat can not be directly dissolved in the blood. This substance is carried to and from the cell to another substance called lipoproteins. The high-density lipoprotein HDL is good. This kind protects the body from heart disease because the cholesterol is transported away from the arteries that fat can accumulate. It is also believed to remove cholesterol from arteries other. This type of cholesterol, however, must be maintained and controlled, because the lowest level this can also increase the risk of heart problems.

cholesterol is called bad density lipoproteins or LDL. Such highly contributes to the buildup of plaque in the inner walls of the arteries. High levels of both compounds in the blood causes increased risk of coronary heart disease that could lead to a heart attack.

Sources of cholesterol

Although LDL is mostly produced in the body, cholesterol in our food intake still contributes much to the account of total cholesterol. Seventy-five percent of our body cholesterol is produced in the interior and the remaining 25 percent comes from food. Almost all the food we eat every day that contain cholesterol and many of these foods contain large quantities.

The most important organ of the list of foods that contain large amounts of cholesterol is a nutrient known to all and can be purchased at almost all fast food chains and restaurants. Chicken and egg contains the highest levels. These two are followed by the liver, seafood and turkey on Thanksgiving Day favorite.

Without knowing it, our body cholesterol is also affected by hereditary. There are some genes inherited from our parents and even grandparents that cause the cholesterol in our body to be too elaborate.

Cholesterol

Everyone needs to control cholesterol, because they have too much cholesterol or too low in the body contribute much to the disease. The count includes both cholesterol good and bad, both manufactured in the body and which are acquired from food intake.

counts cholesterol are determined by a blood test. Each person has a unique physical, which is why an individual should consult a physician for cholesterol count should be maintained. Is especially recommended for people 20 years and more than the fasting lipoprotein test at least once every five years. Consult a routine medical care needed before your cholesterol be tested. Usually, doctors ask their patients to go 10 to 12 hours of fasting, ie, without food or pills taken. This determines the exact amount of good and bad cholesterol in the blood and cells.

There are lots of misconceptions about cholesterol, especially with food to consider that make self-diagnosis patients worrying about their health. As such, the best option is to consult the experts and a healthier lifestyle.

A lots of cholesterol in the body occur more frequently than ever before. This is due to the variety of food offered now in the grocery store and restaurants. The person may recover from eating foods that are high in saturated fats.

Is there a food that can be called the best to lower cholesterol? The answer is no because a well balanced diet must come from all food groups.

What is more healthy for lunch and dinner is food that comes from the ocean. This can be fish or shellfish are known to carry Omega 3, which is highly effective in reducing cholesterol levels in people.

In every meal, the person must not forget to add some fruit on the plate. A salad works best or having a few carrots or potatoes as a side dish. You should always be a balance whenever the individual decides to have meat or fish.

The exercise is the best way to reduce cholesterol

with lower cholesterol, the good news is that there is a way to prevent this before it happens. It will take sacrifice and hard work by the person because the body will not be able to withstand the effects due to aging.

Aside from eating less and making changes in diet, the best way to lower cholesterol is through exercise. This will increase heart rate and metabolism in the body allowing it to expel the harmful oils, which are harmful to health.

With the constant exercise, after a week or two, there will be improvements in levels of good cholesterol and bad in the body, and the reduction in the current weight of the person.

Some offices and hospitals encourage people to upload one or two flights of stairs instead of the elevator up or down a few floors. If your employer into an account with a large car park, the individual can try walking a few yards instead of taking the space near the door.

Natural Ways to Lower Cholesterol

Cholesterol is classified into two. The first is called LDL or low density lipoprotein. This is better known as bad cholesterol and have too much of it can cause problems in the health of an individual.

The natural way to reduce cholesterol will do something physical every day. A person can do brisk walking every other day while those in between can work up some sweat in the gym while working on weight machines.

There was a time that doctors encourage children and adults to take milk. While this can help strengthen bones as we age, this also has certain ingredients that are unsafe. This should be changed for soy or fat-free milk may taste a little different but is much healthier than before.

unsweetened tea is also safe to drink. You can have a different flavor to mix an envelope of equal or Nutrasweet can add some flavor.

Have heard at least once as cholesterol covered in two separate parts: good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. However, did you ever take the time to find out why and what is the difference between the two, because most people do not, and this is in fact one of the most important things in terms of human health that anyone could know.

“What is cholesterol

Cholesterol is an important substance in our body, found in our bloodstream and cells. The body needs cholesterol for it to work well, and thus contributes to a number and produces hormones cell membrane.

The good cholesterol is also known as high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and that it is in our bloodstream. The reason for this is considered good cholesterol because it protects the heart of a stroke or an illness of this type. The appropriate level of good cholesterol is a minimum of 40mg/dL or more.

The bad cholesterol, which is also known as low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is bad because a high number of them can clog the arteries and causing an attack heart or any other heart related diseases. The normal level of bad cholesterol is 200 mg / dL or less is not to present a risk of heart problems.

How can you control and reduce bad cholesterol

If you already have high levels of LDL “bad” then the best thing can do is to consult your doctor about an effective drug that helps you to reduce gradually. There are many cholesterol drugs that are available on many natural remedies against, too. However, it is strongly suggested that you do not self-medicate as some of the cholesterol drugs have serious side effects, your doctor may only draw as he is familiar with your medical history and conditions.

If you have normal cholesterol levels good and bad everything you may want to do is make sure that it stays that way and you can do that by taking the following steps: eat healthy and exercise. Eating healthy includes foods that are low in saturated fat and trans fat and cholesterol.

Get in the habit of reading food labels, and we all have to provide all the information specified by law and therefore it is easy for you to choose what foods are good and which are detrimental to their health.

Foods that contain high levels of cholesterol are egg yolk, chicken, meat, seafood, butter and cheese.

Take a minute and learn about their levels of good cholesterol and bad , monitor food intake and your family making them aware of the importance and remain below the limits of bad cholesterol. A few minutes of self-education can save your life or a member of his family.

Ways to reduce cholesterol are all-natural and does not include a strict regimen of exercise – while increasing your daily activity never hurts. If you have a “medicine more problems with cholesterol time you are prescribed cholesterol -” Statin drugs, but it really is a safer, more effective alternative and less expensive.

To be quite accurate – you will not, simply reduce your cholesterol levels. What we want is a proper balance of cholesterol. There are different types of cholesterol that our bodies need to live.

Sometimes we have too much LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and sometimes we have enough HDL (good cholesterol) and sometimes is a bad combination. Medicine developed – ‘statins’ – the most frequently prescribed drugs for cholesterol problems, which lower cholesterol – but too often lower in the good and bad.

You want your cholesterol medicine to balance the good cholesterol, you bad cholesterol and triglycerides. This is the optimum range you want to be looking for. Statins will not give you that, but there nutrients.

The 4 best ways to lower cholesterol is by eating: Lecithin oil pumpkin seed oil phytosterols D-limonene, rather than cholesterol medicine – drugs .

Lecithin oil – has been around since 1929 – has been used as an emulsifying agent, allowing fats and other lipids that are dispersed in water. During the mid-1960s – the Japanese discovered the ability to reduce cholesterol.

Pumpkin Seed Oil – Contains Zinc, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and both Omega 3 and Omega 6 – known as essential fatty acids has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol or low density lipoprotein.

D-limonene – known for its fragrance to lemons. It also works very efficiently to reduce cholesterol.

Phytosterols – found in many fruits and vegetables. These little gems of reducing LDL cholesterol – low density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) and do not interfere with high-density lipoprotein HDL (good cholesterol)

A combination of these natural ingredients will provide an excellent way to reduce cholesterol and gives the right balance cholesterol without having to take cholesterol medicine expensive and sometimes dangerous.

Remember statins – the main cholesterol-lowering drugs – have side effects such as pain caused moderate to severe muscle. They also reduce coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) – in some cases up to 50% – CoQ10 is an enzyme essential for proper muscle function! And your heart is the most important muscle!

The natural method gives you a bonus and a way to reduce cholesterol. This general approach also ensures that you have the correct levels of triglycerides (which in some people – including me – is the much bigger problem.) Something that most cholesterol medicine does not.
